
A circular water-bath nitrogen evaporator is widely used in laboratories for concentrating and preparing samples by gently introducing nitrogen over liquid samples while controlling the water-bath temperature. Proper maintenance is essential for maintaining stable evaporation performance, protecting samples, and extending the service life of the equipment.
Before operation, inspect the nitrogen supply, pressure regulator, tubing, valves, sample tubes, and gas distribution needles. Ensure that all connections are secure and free from leakage. Check the water bath and confirm that the water level is within the recommended range. Use clean water and replace it regularly to reduce contamination, scale formation, and microbial growth.
After each operation, remove the sample tubes and clean any residues from the heating chamber, sample rack, and nitrogen needles. If chemical spills occur, clean them immediately using a method compatible with the equipment materials. Keep the instrument dry after cleaning and avoid allowing water to enter electrical components.
Periodically inspect the heating system, temperature sensor, circulation components, seals, and nitrogen tubing. Check whether the nitrogen pressure and flow remain stable. The temperature display should also be verified periodically against an appropriate reference thermometer.
Abnormal temperature: If the water bath cannot reach the set temperature, check the water level, heating element, temperature sensor, and controller. Excessive temperature fluctuation may indicate a faulty sensor or control circuit.
Weak nitrogen flow: Check the nitrogen cylinder or generator, pressure regulator, tubing, valves, and gas needles. Blocked needles or leaking tubing can significantly reduce gas flow.
Uneven evaporation: Confirm that the sample tubes are positioned correctly and that nitrogen is distributed evenly. Differences in sample volume, temperature, or gas flow can also cause inconsistent concentration.
Water leakage: Inspect drain connections, tubing, seals, and the water-bath chamber. Stop operation if leakage reaches electrical components.
Instrument does not start: Check the power supply, fuse, switch, and electrical connections. If the problem persists, qualified technicians should inspect the internal electrical system.
Regular cleaning, inspection, calibration, and preventive maintenance can significantly improve the reliability and service life of a circular water-bath nitrogen evaporator.
