Troubleshooting and Maintenance Methods for a Working Force Gauge

A force gauge is widely used in laboratories, manufacturing, quality control, material testing, and mechanical testing to measure tensile force, compression force, pulling force, and pushing force. When abnormal readings, unstable measurements, or startup failures occur, troubleshooting should follow a systematic process: visual inspection, electrical inspection, sensor inspection, calibration, and performance verification.

1. Instrument Cannot Power On

First, check the power cord, power adapter, power switch, fuse, and power supply. Confirm that the input voltage meets the manufacturer's specifications. If the power supply is normal but the display remains blank, the problem may involve the internal power module, control circuit, or wiring. Internal electrical repairs should only be performed by qualified technicians after disconnecting the power supply.

2. Unstable Measurement Readings

If the displayed force value continuously fluctuates, check whether the instrument is affected by vibration, electromagnetic interference, loose connections, or improper sensor installation. Place the force gauge on a stable surface and keep it away from strong electromagnetic sources. Inspect the sensor cable and connector for damage or poor contact.

3. Inaccurate Measurement Results

If the zero point is normal but measurement results are significantly inaccurate, inspect the force sensor, mounting fixture, and measurement direction. Avoid exceeding the rated capacity or applying side loads to the sensor. Calibration should be performed using appropriate standard weights or certified force standards. If significant errors remain after calibration, the sensor may require professional inspection or replacement.

4. Abnormal Display or Button Failure

Check the display, communication cable, keypad, and control circuit. Button failures may result from contamination, mechanical wear, or damaged internal contacts. Clean the instrument using an appropriate method and prevent liquids from entering the housing.

5. Verification After Repair

After maintenance, verify zero stability, repeatability, linearity, and measurement accuracy across the required range. Compare the instrument with a suitable reference standard before returning it to service.

Regular cleaning, calibration, inspection, and proper handling can extend the service life of a force gauge. Avoid impacts, overloads, and prolonged operation at maximum capacity. For critical sensor or electronic-board repairs, professional service is recommended to ensure measurement accuracy and operational safety.
